Agreement of Verb with Subject

Image
Hey Amigos! Today, I have brought a very interesting topic for all of you. Have you ever thought - Why do we always write or speak 'He is ' and not 'He are' That's because of an important concept of Grammar that states that the Verb of the sentence has to agree according to the Subject of the Sentence. This is the basic rule. I will lift the veil from the other rules of this topic in my next post. Stay tuned. Happy Learning!

Use of Could

Image
Hey Amigos! In my last post, we did the usage of 'Can' and in this post, let us learn the usage of 'Could' Could is the past tense of can. It is used to talk about  the  ability that existed in the past .   In my younger days, I could run four miles at a stretch. Till last year I could read without glasses. Note: 'Could' do not only refers to the past time. It refers to the past time only according to the context.  'Could' may express possibility or uncertainty. If my brother were here, we could have solved this problem together. Note: We have used 'were' in the sentence because it is an imaginary condition that can not be fulfilled. So we use 'were' in this condition. 'Could'  is also used to ask polite questions. Could you, please, take me to the Manager? Could I have a look at your papers?

Use of Can in our daily routine!

Hey Amigos! Let us learn today the usage of another modal verb ' Can'.  Can expresses ability. Cannot (can’t) shows   inability. She can speak ten languages. I can’t cook. Can you speak Spanish?
