Speaking Module IELTS

 Hey Amigos!

In this post, I will apprise you of the Speaking Module of IELTS.

Speaking Module happens on a separate day in a separate venue which is within seven days of the main test. It may happen before or after the test.

Duration: It is generally 12-15 minutes.

FAQ :

Q1: Can I be right or wrong in speaking ?

Ans: As we can not have right or wrong answers in writing, we don't have the same in Speaking as well. We are given band scores based on four  Bands descriptors.

1- Fluency and Coherence

2- Pronunciation

3- Lexical Resource

4- Grammatical Range and Accuracy

Introduction or Interview Round : There is a great myth prevailing out in IELTS world that this round is to make you and your examiner comfortable with each other. Understand that your examiner is not there to form any bond with you that he will make you comfortable. He will start evaluating you from round 1 only.

ROUND 2
Cue Card Round

A question with its subparts is given on a cue card and you have to speak on that question for two minutes. It is similar to extempore. The problem arises in this round as the speaker doesn't know what to speak, basically, he has a lack of content. The good news is that they give you one minute to plan what you have to speak. So it is up to you how you plan your time efficiently.

Round 3
Continuation of Round 2 but in a generalised way

In this round, the examiner asks you questions based on round 2 but in a more generalised way. He doesn't expect a long story here but just two or three liners.
